Fished an isolated part of Onion Creek with Will,1960texan and the RECORD FEST was was on! We nailed four Onion Creek Records! Big Rios and Redear made the record books. We also had chances for a "Monster Bass",and several Bluegills! First record was a nice Bull. She was submitted for both the weight and catch&release records. Her length was 9.10" and the certified weight was .86 Lbs. The third record was a nice Rio caught on the fly by Will. The certified weight was .77 Lbs. The final record was a very nice Redear catch&release, with the length of 10.25". All record fish were released! The Rio weight and C&R record along with the Redear were caught on worms. Will's record fly rod weight was caught on a dark colored fly. We caught several more Redear all over 10" but could not get the weight record. We also caught several nice Bluegill and had a "SUPER BASS" spit the hook after a nice fight! We fished from 9am till 3pm. Paper work was sent to the Texas Parks&Wildlife Dept. Fish were hanging close to grass beds. A great Record Fest on Onion Creek! It just don't get any better!

It was another great day fishing. Chuck was pulling fish out of the creek one right after another. He lost a trophy bass that straightened the hook on him.

Thanks Alan and Jamie for the replies. Creek fishing all over has been GREAT! Fish have been active all summer long and this last rain we got really turned em on. Will has the Rios dialed in. He is getting pretty good with that fly rod!

Nice fish guys. You all have been catching good quality fish all summer long! Not to mention several record fish. I think the water bodies being in good shape all summer long played a huge part in the quality of the fish. Do you think this upcoming weather system will play a factor in the upcoming fall bite? Especially on the Guadalupe River.

Thanks Curtis for the reply! The area got some rain here in South Central Texas but it has so far been a lot less than forecasted. If the storm would have settled in a little more west we would have gotten a LOT more. So far there has not been any flooding in our area. We still have several days to go. If the rainfall stays minimal I think we should be OK. As long as there is no major flooding the bite will good plane and simple.



Side Note: Say some prayers for all those that suffered from Hurricane Harvey.

Thanks Chuck. New Braunfels picked up 6 to 7". Mcqueeney and Dunlap both have a lot debris in the water and the water is still muddy is some places. I heard that further down the river it is really bad. I got a feeling some nice brush piles got totally washed away.
