Sad deal! But now the libs has started and looks they closing SLP access for recreation use.
Updated 33 mins ago
WEST BAY, Texas (KTRK) -- Citing unsafe conditions in the waters of San Luis Pass, Brazoria County Commissioner's Court has voted to ban visitors from entering the water for recreational activities.
The ban, which goes into effect on Aug. 18, prohibits visitors from "entering the waters of the San Luis Pass for any activity, including bathing, fishing and/or swimming."
Over the past several weeks, four people have drowned in San Luis Pass in three separate incidents. On Aug. 7, a man and his son-in-law drowned after getting caught in a rip current.
In early July, a Houston father drowned when the kayak he was in with his family capsized just north of the San Luis Pass.
Just a week earlier, a 19-year-old fisherman drowned as he fished with a friend; authorities believe the pair was pulled under by a rip current.

man that place is a death trap Not really. People just don't bother to learn the basics any more. San Luis Pass is no more dangerous than a whole lot of other coastal passes; it just happens to be close enough to a large population center that a lot of people with no idea what they are doing go there to play in the water. You don't play in the pass on a moving tide and you don't ride a barrel over Niagra Falls. I'm waiting for the lawyers to start filing lawsuits because the counties adjacent to the pass don't spend the big bucks to station law enforcement personnel 24/7 on both sides of the pass to stop their clients from entering the water, when their clients don't have enough sense to learn basic information about playing in the ocean.

Agreed!! No more dangerous than the road trip to Galveston if you know how to deal with those currents. In fact I bet the risk for fatalities are way greater on highways heading to the SLP. It's a shame the libs and guberment are shutting down a great place to fish down because of the uneducated!!

Always hate news like this. Prayers up for the families and friends of the victims. The Lord Jesus Christ has control.

I wonder how some of the SLP near-victims would react to the Maine / Nova Scotia coast, with its 40 and 50 foot tides? That's where you can really see some water moving........
