When fishing standing timber during the summer pattern do you like to fish the timber that is near the flats or near a creek channel and why? Do you like to fish this way on every lake or each lake differently?

Varies from lake to lake, but I'd typically start near a drop off. So to your question, I'd pick the edge of a creek channel.
That being said, I like BPs on flats this time of year.
