Right???

So what's your favorite big bait for bucket mouths? Hard to find any right now, biggest I can seem to find are 2.25" Mr. Crappie jigs.

Thermocline Lures has a 2.5" and 3" tadpole and the super fry is 3.5" long.

Recently added is the 2.5" tadpole. Great bait.

Mike Coffey makes big jig 3.5" that I use from fall up until after shad spawn. Thermocline makes a great bait that's 3" called tad pole as well.

I'm a fan of the big Thermocline lures. I recently took this "flounder" bait and used it with some success. It's about 3" long but with a "wide" body. Comes in several different colors. I've got a quite a few saltwater baits that I'm going to trim down a little and see if I can fool a few crappie.

Columbus took a chance and he made it.

Not always, but matchin the hatch is. And also a larger bait is easier for them to see in stained water. 1/4 0z head is the largest I go and that is for deep water and wind mostly. I also use a split shot if needed. But mostly 1/8 oz., and I have had more than one say my tails are too long, but an overall of 3" in stained water seems to be good for me. And if I need smaller, I usually have some with me. To each his own!

3 and 4 inch flukes that catch the hybrids during the spawn transition well to summer crappie. I pull 5 inch shad out of 11 and 12 inch crappie so don't be concerned about "too big"......
