Two boys were killed yesterday and one is in critical condition after their sail boat hit the power line running across alley creek.

Does anyone know how they got a sail boat tall enough to hit a power line under the bridge?

How tall was the mast? I'm not sure I've ever seen a Transmission hung that low over water. Most likely 69 or 138kv. Sad deal and not something most people ever consider when enjoying the lake.

I saw an article that said that it was a Hobiecat Catamaran. I looked at their website and they have some models with masts as tall as 30'.

The masts on those are easily retractable. You don't need a ramp to launch a Catamaran just a small piece of the shores edge where you can get it off the trailer.

If they are that low I'm shocked the utility doesn't have them marked. I bet they do in the future...

The ones on Hurricane Creek are marked, but I don't think the ones in Alley are marked. Those lines are further back in the creek very close to where the timber starts.
