I think this is the first time I've broke 100 in a week this year, I'm at 117 Mon-Thurs and it's got me thinking about next year. How hard would it be? I think it would absolutely suck though the winter on the trainer, but 20 miles a day doesn't seem too terrible, that also leaves the weeked to rest or catch up if you couldn't get it in. 20 is around what I've been doing in the mornings, just not every morning, and about an hour you're done... Dang sure would keep you healthy and you'd sound like a badarse saying you ride a 100 a week. coolio

Thoughts?

My wife is into riding. She got me riding a little. Rode 8 miles last night. Did 25 last Saturday which was my best. She rides with a club and they do 40 some nights and 40-60 on weekends.

That's some good riding, I like to think 20-30 miles as my perfect distance. Not too short, and not so long it takes planning water stops.

Nothing wrong with short rides either, there's been lots of times I just jump on my bike and take off through the neighborhood and do anything from 3-8 miles between getting off work and supper.

It goes away after riding for a while and learning how to sit properly and efficiently.

That's pretty solid! I'm slacking, did 26 yesterday morning, and that's been it since the 20 I did the Sunday after the HHH. I'm going to take my bike into the shop this week and have the bottom bracket checked out, noticing some sounds/squeaks and think it should be alittle smoother... We'll see what they say.

I wish my wife would ride.....I bought her a bike years ago for us to ride to ACL from her brothers apartment in Austin. We made it out of the parking lot and she freaked out...called her brother to come get the bike and give her a ride. She never sat on the bike again. Good thing it was a cheapo from WM.

BUT then again....I need some alone time away from her. smile

You could look at the cotton patch ride as a warm up for the 60, and do the 46, or as the 60 as a recovery for riding the 75. clap

My wife has been borrowing one of our friends wife's bike, and is starting to like it I think. It's a wide tire, squishy seat with springs, easy geared kind of bike. We've been thinking about getting one of those little trailers for the youngest to ride in, but I got one of those kiddy seats that sits behind you yesterday, tried it out and he wasn't a big fan of it.

Couple here has one and takes their kid with them....scares me to no end. Stick to closed roads or city parks if you do.....kid doesn't stand a chance if a car decides to get swervy. Cyclist can jump off bike, fly off into the ditch, ect. Kids in a cart are stuck. Way too many crazies out there...we already putting our life in danger.

Yeah I wouldn't take one on any kind of major roads. Unless it was a big organized ride. With our 3 year old riding, probably just stroll around the neighborhood with it, or cut through the golf course over to the trail, or load it all up in my truck and make our way to the trail.

Revisiting this thread. Decided week before last I was going to get to 2000 miles for the year by the 29th of October, last year that was the day I broke 1000. Only problem, I was only at 1400 something miles..... figured I’d have to do 106 miles a week till then to get it. First week into in, it started raining mid morning Monday and didn’t stop till about lunch Friday. Came up 6 miles short for the week, oh well. Pretty sure I can make I up by then. 4 more weeks to go, we’ll see how this goes....

Well my Waco ride did not go well. Got back spasms on the way down and they got worse all night long and still today. Very disappointed. Sucked sitting in the hotel room most of the time. Wife did 69 mles at 16.7 pace and it was very hilly. No way I could have kept up with that.

My spasms seem to be from over a week ago when trying clipless pedals in the street. Went down with thigh hitting the curb followed by shoulder in the grass.

Rode with a group on Wednesday at a 15.6 pace and afterwards had small spasms but I thought I was going to be OK

Clip in pedal falling will happen, shake it off. Bet ya bruised hip or knocked back out of alignment. Usually it jut hurts the ego. LOL!

Typically back and neck problems work their way out on a ride....at least it does for me. BUT yesterday after my 40 miles, I was sore necked. Nap helped fix that! LOL!

It did me in. The car ride to Waco mess up my back and I had severe back spams from Friday afternoon until last night. Was planning on 69 on Sat and 40 on Sunday. Neither happened. Very disappointing. All related to the fall. Not sure why it started bothering me 10 days later. Had rode 120 miles since the fall.

Man, could be something from how you're sleeping, or maybe it's just taken a while for it to rear it's head. I've fallen into a curb once, but landed on my arm. The other times I've fallen, it's pretty instant pain, but never lasted more than a few days, just the "road rash" takes a while.

We've been getting a ton of overnight rain the past few weeks, and I sliced one of my fingers really really good last week, so I'm way behind on my little goal. Only got 40 miles in last week, and didn't go this morning, so it's got me 79 miles behind where I need be today... Looks like a century ride ontop of a 100 mile week is coming up. hammer

I have always known my body pretty well. I sleep light and restless for years, side to back to other side and I don't think that the issue.

As this is settling down it is the right shoulder blade are that is still hurting. That was the 2nd part of the fall. 58 years old and I know my upper core is not what it used to be.

Good luck with your catching up.

I don't ride my street bike anywhere near 100 miles, but I have been riding it more lately.

I just needed to do some adjustment to the handlebars level, and put some new tape on them.

Heck,it feels like a new'ish bike!

Way to go! I'm slacking bad, was going to go this morning, but went back to bed. I picked up a sweet new pair of shoes at like 60% off this weekend, really wanted to give them a try more than just around the block.

Beautiful weekend for it! Work off that Dressing, Rolls and Pie!

I finally found an hour to get in 20 miles Sunday....my life is just too busy right now. Running just takes less time and preparation. Running the bare minimum right now.

I’m old(er). I just started riding. I have one of those hybrid bikes of pretty good quality. I ride a trail, which is about 8.5 miles I’ve managed to rise the whole thing but I am slow. Experienced riders pass me like I’m walking. I hope to build up my speed now. I just can’t see myself on a road bike I am to afraid of texters.

I bought a Hybrid in June. 1K miles on it so far. 58 years old. 1/3 trails, the rest on the streets. My wife has more experience and worked with me or I would not be close to where I am now. We ride in a club. Safety and knowledge in numbers. We ride in your area at times. If you want to know the club we are in let me know.
