Looking for ideas and manufactures. Looked at a Mako 19 cpx with a 150 merc today and was pleasantly surprised by the layout and finish. It seemed to have a lot of features for the price, just missing a T-Top.

Edit....On a different note, I've found a Triton TRX 179 for a great price (25K with a merc pro xs command thrust). I know they are nothing alike, but am torn between the two. A center console seems more versatile, you can ski behind it better, more power, smoother ride, etc for 30K, but comes in at a whopping 2500 lbs. Ironically test show both boats topping out around 50-51 mph....Help??

I saw a Nautic Star in Longview with a 200 on it. It is a 21'. Not sure about the quality of a Nautic Star. Judging by price they seem like a lower to mid range boat. Also saw a Skeeter 22 bay in Waco but under powered with a 150 on it. I think they both on Boat Trader. I know what you are talking about weight wise. My Champ scaled at 4620 with 1/2 tank of gas. Of course half a tank on the Champ is a lot of gas.

Ive been eyeballing these http://www.tuffboat.com/rw.html

Really close to what I want ( which apparently does not exist) to replace my 83 sea nymph. Since I can find what I want, I'm just gonna put some bucks and sweat into the old sea nymph and do another more thorough restore than I did the last time.

I would buy used, with a 35K budget you can get alot more boat than a 19 ft assembly line deluxe.

The good news? You've got hundreds of choices.
The bad news? There's hundreds of choices.
Your happiness with your decision will be decided by how much information you get before you make the decision.
So, the more honest you answer these, the better/happier you'll be with your decision.
What will you be doing AT LEAST 50% of the time in your toy?
WHERE will it be used AT LEAST 50% of the time?
"I want to start fishing the bays" Very common statement, but the trickiest one of all.
WHICH Bay???? Total different need if you're in Galveston than Seadrift than Port O' Connor. What works at one is a miserable failure at the other.
Understand everything on a boat is a compromise. There is no such thing as a "multi" purpose boat unless you mean it doesn't do anything well.

Nautic Stars are excellent boats! NO wood and lifetime guarantee. Look at the 1910 bay model, Great boat and will do all that you are looking for! THe Nautic Star 1810 is a possibility, but is not nearly the boat that the 1910 is.

Thanks for the input everyone! Lets see, I plan to fish the lakes of texas 90% of the time. 10% of the time hauling the boat down to florida. Mainly will be used to fish, but I'd like to option to ski behind it. Used seems like a great idea, just having a hard time knowing what. Good call on the nautic stars! They really look like nice, how about the blue wave 2400? I found this one used not too far from me with the Evinrude 250 and it pretty much loaded to the hilt.....But then again, do I really NEED a boat like that? A regular bass boat would work just fine. My current boat is great, no problems at all, but the aluminum hull bounces like crazy and I have to slow every time I hit a wave. Does anyone know how the 179 does in chop? It's a pretty light hull which has me slightly concerned.

I will add two things here- That Triton 17' bass boat will ride rough compared to the CC's you mentioned, and I wouldn't pull a boat to Florida from Texas 10% of the time, you will be money and time ahead to go to Florida, get a guide and catch fish, and let him deal with the boat part.

Yeah if occasionally going to Florida is actually part of your decision then scratch it off your list. Saltwater maintenance is 20x freshwater for a few days a year?
