Not questioning your post but I have been fishing Stillhouse for 20 years and never caught but one decent crappie. Even the biologist for the lake says its is a poor crappie fishery. I have crappie condos, brushpiles all over the lake and there just aren't enough crappie to mess with. I even ereased most of the waypoints to free up storage. I've fished all the standing timber the old orchard trees by the island and zilch. There have always been dinks and maybe they have grown up. I no longer target crappie in Stillhouse, I target the bluegill. But if you live near Stillhouse I would love for you to make a believer out of me so lets go to Stillhouse and catch some crappie. I would enjoy the company (I am tired of fishing my myself). Your boat or my mine makes no difference. Takes me 15 minutes to get to any of the ramps. Just say when, I'm retired and fish everyday. My boat or mine just say when.

Way to go, that is what it should be about. Catching fish and making friends.

My boat or mine just say when. You bring up a valid point about the quality of fish in SH. I used to fish SH exclusively for crappie since the '80s, but with all the flooding and washing out of nutrients the fish quality just isn't there. If you look at the the 7 fish weights from past tournaments, you will see an average of 4-7lbs for the winning weight. Compare that to other lakes, and it's a big diff. Lots of fish out there, just need to know where to go and when. I may have to meet up with y'all sometime, it's been a while since I've been out there. Good luck

There are a lot of great lakes in Texas that the Parks and Wildlife website reports as a poor crappie fishery. Makes for some great days catching for those of us who actually fish the lakes. I hope to see a follow up post on this one, especially since the challenge was accepted!
