I am thinking about renting kayaks this weekend and fishing Lady Bird Lake for a few hours one morning. Will be my first time ever fishing out of a kayak. Any advice before I head out would be appreciated. Any tips on strategy for this time of year on finding some fish would help. Will be launching out of the Rowing Dock. Thanks in advance.

Having never kayaked I'm sure you're in for an adventure.

Don't get frustrated if and when the paddling and boat positioning interferes with the fishing. It happens to everyone.

Good luck and post a report!

Rent a fishing kayak if possible and a 12' to me is the best size. Be patient. Don't try to reach behind you to get something. Swing your feet out to the side and let them hang in water. You can access everything that way with ease. Have floats on fishing rods and be a minimalist! ALWAYS WEAR A PFD!!!!!

Be prepared for dealing with paddling, positioning, and trying to fish. Don't take too much gear as it can make things complicated for a Noob.
