im looking at a 2018 zx250 and wanted input from skeeter owners on a few concerns im having.

1) i notice way more 225 on the water vs the 250 which appears to be a better value at only a few thousand dollars more. any 250 owners regret buying the larger boat?

2) right now 2017 are only 2k less than 2018. not including the new layout which is smarter to buy?

thx in advance

The way Skeeters are priced you can "only a few thousand more" yourself right up to the FX21 LE.

I've had a ZX250 and an I class. This past year I bought a 17 ZX200 and while I initially only wanted an 18 foot boat I "a few thousand" myself on up. But to answer your question it all depends on how you fish, your budget and what you want from a boat. No one can decide but you.

As for the price, even though the MAP is only 2k difference, that's the price increase for 2018. I suspect the buy it for price will be much greater than a 2k difference. There will be some enticement in the older ones now that the new ones are here. It may be $$$ or maybe extra warranty. It could be both.

Lastly it comes down to the new 2018 redesign deck and the center rod lockers. Do you love it or hate it?

Always, always, always buy the largest motor your boat is rated for assuming it won't keep you from fishing any of your favorite tournaments. You want the 250. And I'd go 2017 and buy the YES extended warranty for the $2k which gets you 6 years of full coverage. Folks will be more concerned with hours and remaining warranty than year model, should you decide to sell in the future.

Don't buy new unless you just like throwing money away. There are a ton of 2 to 3 year old boats out there for sale. I've had both 225hp and 250hp. Like fouz says, buy the max hp engine rated for that boat. Also, the ride on the ZX250 will be quite better than the ZX225. Then, you can move up again on comfortable ride by choosing FX or I-class models. They have deeper V hulls. GL!

I've had both a ZX250 and ZX225, currently in the ZX225. I loved the ZX250, never had an instance where I wished I had a smaller boat or that the bigger boat was an issue. The ZX225 is also a great boat, maneuvers a little better IMO, and runs a little faster than the ZX250. If I had a choice between the two and money was not an issue I'd go with the 250 again.. but you cant go wrong with either choice!

Yes there are a few good used ones out there but they are not cheap. Two things to also consider with used boats 1) the electronics are be older and 2) depending on how you intend to purchase, the interest rate may be higher on used boat loans.

I see a lot of 225 for sale that's the same year model as mine for only a couple thousand less then what I paid 2 years ago. I'd spend the extra couple thousand because they carry such a high resale anyways.

Is that 4k difference factoring in tt&l and whatvtheyvwere getting vs what they are asking? No. Your looking at probably close to 10k difference in the end.

I don't get the math either. Sales tax (6.25% on boats) of $4000 is $250. Hard to make a 4 k difference equal 10k.

after rereading it i think he means most will negotiate a lesser price than their asking price. but on a 2 yr old boat i still dont see being able to save 10k. daggum skeeters hold their value!!!!!!!!!

x10000000 on the max hp. That goes for any boat you may buy. Whatever that tag says is the max HP, put it on there.
