Hey guys, I will be hitting Surfside next week with the family. It's been a while since I have been there, and was wondering what is working in the surf.
I will be going with my young kids (ages oldest is 7yo) so will get some fishbites and shrimp so they can enjoy some action.

However I want to try and toss some lures or live bait and see if I can get a trout. Any recommendations?

Thanks

Gold or
Silver Johnson Sprite spoon- 1/2 to 3/4 oz

Mirrolures

MirrOdine XL-Texas Chicken is my goto

Topwater early
Jig and Plastic tails-I'm partial to Down South lures: Regular and Super Model(XL)
Live Croaker/Shrimp
Looking at the forecast, this southwest wind should shift towards southeast by mid week making life more enjoyable:) Should be calm and clearer water by Thursday/Friday maybe sooner. The southwest wind has the tides looking like Winter. I might try Thursday morning if I'm lucky.

We are renting a house, starting Monday afternoon. So earliest I would fish would be Tues am, unless I try night fishing on Monday.
Forecast showed potential for rain, no idea how it will affect fish. With the kids, I will likely fish in front of the house, not search for specific locations. Hopefully weather and Poseidon collaborate and I can catch something.

I have gold and silver spoons, some Topwaters (Top Dog and Rapala floaters), yozuri cyrstal minnows, and Gulp! shrimp and swimming mullet. Also some mirrodines, though can't remember the models. Trouble will be finding fish to try and throw things.

Or should I just cast away blindly and rotating lures?
Will bring a cast net and try to get some live fish.

Fan cast and just take my advice as general info. It all depends on the wind direction and speed. A southeasterly wind will bring in cleaner water. There is supposed to be a cold front(lol) moving through by Sunday/Monday so hopefully conditions will be ideal. A Northerly wind will help get the surf flat. Good luck, and I'm no expert at this as I'm always learning the game of fishing. Definatley bring a cast net. Mullet and I've heard reports of Shrimp being caught in the 1st gut.

Thanks for the tips. Checking the fishing calendar seems like the week is gonna be lousy fishing, until next weekend when it picks up a little. Will try nonetheless.
