Ahhh, I forgot this boat is a Skeeter....but the view of the repair looked like it was on the flat-surface portion by the motor to me, aka transom.

All Skeeters will do this, eventually....just ask the non-Skeeter owners. Is it a jealousy thing?
Just take it to Chris @ Classic Fiberglass and be done with it.

Guys, we've looked at hundreds of situations and this one does not appear to have a repair.
The later pictures make us feel it was backed into an obstacle, most likely a post, and the damage is from off the water. It is water from use and not having been sealed before usage after the damage. We believe this is parking lot or reverse damage from an incident on the trailer.
You also will see abrasion marks above this on the rub rail, and in this case the rub rail is behind (further forwards of) the hull sponson. Thus the sponson gets contact on an obstacle first. You can even notice on one angle the rub rail and insert appears as flattened some in one area.
The gelcoat over the impact is approximately standard thickness and not a repair. There is no delamination, just impact where the laminate was fractured. The resin was compromised and the gelcoat over that laminate from compressing an item.
We are not thinking anything has been covered up and that the damage is either post purchase or pre purchase and existed before at that time, it it was there. If not then there is a chance it was backed into by a vehicle in a parking situation. Who knows when or where this one happened.
