So my buddy asked me a good questions, he's relatively new to fishing, really only goes out with myself or to some local ponds. He doesn't currently have very many lures etc so he asked if he buys a tackle box what should he stock it with. He fishes for just about anything that will bite I'm not the most experienced myself and have wasted money on tons of trial and error sessions with lures so I didn't want to steer him the wrong way. What does everyone think?

I remembered seeing this article and saved it for future reference. It is a good start. In addition there is another one I read on colors of soft plastics from James Niggemeyer, he felt you could get by with green pumpkin, watermelon red, june bug and black/blue. If I were starting a box I would pick up a pack of senkos/stick baits in at least the first two colors, some weedless wacky hooks and go fishing.

Good luck!

H&h spinner baits for pond! Different colors with a variety of blade styles! Yellow and black on a single blade is my favorite! Academy has for a buck and 2 quarters

Get a box at least twice the size of what you think you'll need. Better yet, make that 2 boxes.

Give me a couple of square bills, a couple of spoons, hooks, some weights for T-rig and C-rig, a couple packages of baby brush hogs, flukes, Chartreuse garlic dip, dropshot hooks and I'd have what I mainly use out of my tackle for several hundred dollars less than I have invested in mine.
