I am trying to transfer waypoints from my old depth finder which used an sd card to my new one which uses a micro sd card. Talked to Lowrance, they were clueless, told me to talk to a computer expert. Did that and they said the format was different and it could not be done via a computer.I'm sure someone has done this. Please advise

The first thing that I'd try would by the sd card adaptor that the micro sd card slides into. Load files onto it and pull the micro out and put in the other unit. Is it going from Lowrance to lowrance or do you need to convert it to humminbird?

I tried that but the format is not the same and it can't be transferred.According to the computer geeks the depth finder formats the information differently than a computer thus, it can't be transferred via a computer

Buy a Micro SD to SD Adapter. This will allow you to use the micro SD card in the old unit. You should be able to copy the waypoints to the Micro SD card direct from you old unit.

Which Lowrance model to which Lowrance model? Should be easy. First put a blank micro SD into a Micro SD adapter and put it in the old unit. Follow the steps in the video. Remove the Micro SD adapter and remove the micro SD card. Place the micro SD card in the new unit and follow the steps in the video This video shows Lowrance LCX/LMS models to Lowrance HDS transfer

My old unit was a Hummingbird 1189c which now lives in Kansas. My new one is a Lowrance HDS9 Gen 3. I have my sd card from my old unit and just want to transfer the waypoints to a micro sd to fit my new one

1. Download GPSbabel to your PC and install it on the PC 2. Save the waypoints from the Humminbird 1189c to the SD card (label the file "Bird waypoints") 3. Put the SD card into your computer 4. Open the GPSbabel program 5. Select "Humminbird waypoints" as the input file on GPSbabel; browse to your input file on the SD card "Bird waypoints" and select it 6. Select "Lowrance USR" as your output file as your output file and select a name "Lowrance waypoints" 7. Select apply 8. Copy the .usr waypoint file to an micro SD card using the microSD adapter and then put the microSD into the new Lowrance unit 9. upload the file to the Lowrance unit

Good info CollinCounty. Just saved this to my favorites. I've done it before, but would have to figure it all out again next time.

I followed your steps but at step 5 it said disc must be reformatted to file E. Everything we have read says that will delete all info on sd card.

GPSbabel works, but isn't the most user friendly. You might have better success with EasyGPS (does the same thing as GPSBabel, but many find it more intuitive) see post #5 on the linked thread EasyGPS

I followed your steps but at step 5 it said disc must be reformatted to file E. Everything we have read says that will delete all info on sd card. Reformatting will delete what's stored, but if it wasn't formatted FAT or NTFS, I don't see how the data was there to begin with. 1.). How sure are you that you got the data backed up from the Humminbird unit to the card? 2.). Make sure that the card is not "locked" Depending on where you are, there might be someone out there that will transfer the data for you...
