Just curious if any of y'all have ever tried fishing White Rock Lake. Its not that far from my house and I'm thinking about trying it here pretty soon. Its a good bass lake, but never really thought about the crappie. I would think the dam would be pretty productive, but Ive been fooled on that lake before

In the spring of 2015 I went to "Crappie University" at Richland. One of the lectures was from a couple of TPWD's biologists, and they said that both White Rock and Bachman had abundant crappie populations. In the winter a lot of folks (sometimes a whoooole lot) fish the first 3/4 mile of creeks above NW Highway. You also might take a look in the bank fishing section of this forum.

When in doubt, set the hook

White rock has an abundant crappie population but with the layout and depth of the lake they are hard to target right now from the bank. Might get a few fishing docks or banks on the South and Southeast sides but not any numbers. Need a boat or kayak to catch them. The bottom is almost barren...little cover (even manmade) and not really any ledges/steep depth changes/etc. Find any piece of cover and it will have fish on it 365 days a year.

Caught some during the summer around the Mockingbird bridge but you have to find the deeper pillars which is not actually that deep (10-12ft).Also around the sail boat marina holds fish but other than that target the channel near the dam.

As a kid, my dad would take me out there and use rubber band lines to catch crappie at night. Lots of coffee for the adults and the kids like me fell asleep in the back of station wagons. They cut lanes through the cattails to place the lines. Good times.

Rodney there is a 10hp restriction on White Rock lake same as Bachman Lake but you can launch a larger boat as long as you use your troll motor only.
