Fished with TFFers Larry (LenaHorse) and Ed (ETU) at Tawakoni from 6:45AM to 2:50PM and caught total of 138: 120 whites, 3 stripers, 4 short hybrids, 2 drum, 5 cats and 4 keeper yellow bass. We spent til about 8:30 waiting around Holiday Humps watching for signs of surface feeding fish and caught a few sandies and short hybrids on the structure while we waited and watched. Finally, we saw a boat show to the northeast beyond Wolf Creek Humps and motored over to join the action. We boated the three legal stripers there - the largest going 25 inches. Fish were suspended in 40 fow water. We caught 2 on a large slab and one on a Mepps #4.

That action stopped, and the wind picked up to 15 to 20 mph from the SW. So, we headed back to the Wolf Creek Humps. We looked around there for about 45 minutes before finding a good concentration of whites near the southern most edge of the humps. We fished that area the rest of the day with almost constant action on 13 to 16 1/2 inch sandies.

We all caught fish on Mepps, and Larry and Ed also caught some on slabs and tail-spinners. Fish were in 18 to 22 fow.

Here are some pics of the trip:

Ed with a double:

Yours truly with a nice white and with one of the stripers:

What an enjoyable day we had and I sure learned a lot on fishing the Mepps and they sure do work very well. I am looking for a repeat trip ASAP. Even to a degree the cloud cover was good at times and really not too hot. I feel so fortunate to be able to do this and as Todd said to have met great friends doing it.

Sorry Ed. Forgot Ed is big fish catcher and a super quick fish unhooker, way too fast for cameras. cheers

Nice report again dennis

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach
