It depends on the type of Pontoon.I once had a Venture Outdoors one man pontoon and went about three bends deep up Walnut Creek from the N Day Miar rd Kayak launch area. There were stumps every where and shallow water before I actually got up in the creek.I think a Large pontoon could have trouble getting back up in there. 2cents BTW : Crappie Fishing there in the winter is very GOOD if you dress for it.

Thanks for the reply! Mine is a full size pontoon so does not sound like I will be making it up the creek. Besides since I posted the question I read an article saying they had found high levels of e coli in the creek so I will look else where to drop a line. frown

Not very far at all. I tried it last winter. Right now you don't want to be fishing the creek anyway.

According to the article below it appears that walnut creek is undergoing treatment for E.coli not sure I would risk it.

We are at Joe Pool all the time and have talked to people we know in the parks and recreation department. They have stated that there is nothing to worry about, they continue to take their families to the lake. This could be why only one "News" channel reported (read slow news day). Also just did a google search and only hit was the original from NBC, if it was any threat there would be more information/reporting on it. Walnut Creek flows into the north arm of the lake, not the south end. Wonder how credible their information is if they cant get that right? On the other hand maybe it will keep the others off of the lake and won't be so crowded!!!
