Keep in mind my little aluminum tub isn't anything fancy. So I was a little apprehensive about dumping the coin on a new trolling motor to replace the old bow mount hand controlled motor guide. About a month ago I found a great deal on a MinnKota Powerdrive V2. Then I went ahead and purchased the I-Pilot kit. I took the boat to a gentleman (who does some welding for us where I work)to have a bracket/mount welded on the bow. When I went to pick it up he had everything ready to go in a day. He even went ahead and mounted the motor to the mount. I spent last Sunday installing the I-Pilot and mounting the transducer and couldn't wait for today to test it out. All I can say is WOW!! what a great feature the Spot Lock is. It' will take me a while to get used to the remote hanging around my neck but I think I'll adjust. Went out for a few hours this morning and only had 4 fish in the box at 9:30. Finally found some brush in 21 FOW and the fish were there, suspended at 12ft. I wasn't fast and furious but I managed to put 10 more in the box with 3 fish over 13" and left them biting at 11:00. Did not have one undersized fish today. No minners were harmed. Best bite was on Thermocline Mr. Fry in Chartreuse Silver Flash.

Congrats on the iPilot! You are gonna love it! There's nothing better than pulling up to your brush pile, hitting the anchor button, then forgetting about your trolling motor until you're ready to move again. cheers

I'm looking forward to it. Next thing I need to do is learn how to use and understand my electronics better. The little Lowrance Elite 5 on the bow is serving it's purpose. Just not real confident in what I am seeing or if I have the settings dialed in on my Helix 7 SI.

Went back out this morning to tinker with the I-Pilot. Not nearly as productive as yesterday. But did have another 14"er. I've been wanting to try a bait that was originally designed for flounder but it is deadly on trout and redfish in the winter. I tied one on last night and decided to try it today. The thing about a larger (3 inch) profile bait is that there is no mistaking the bite. The fish absolutely hammer it.
