I lived ten minutes from them off of University
I still own the same house and Angelos is still next to the Army Surplus
Right down the street is the VIP Club, racked a many of balls in that dive for 25yrs
POINT . . . .REMAINS . . . . .I AINT GOING BACK TO ANGELO's for Q.
Ill eat with the old school WBAP 820 crew at the Railhead,Ive been in Dick's Chopper more then a few many times when he had it.
He parked it at Meachum Field when I worked maintenance on the airport after the oilfield crash in 81 out in west Texas.
Anymore Angelo history you might require,Im well versed from 1981 to present.

I recently tried the brisket at Railhead in Willow Park and the day I went it was like eating a pot roast... looking forward to trying the Smoke Pits new location when they move to the old Sammie's location on Belknap...

its improving. Skeet (George's Son) passed away in december. Now Jason and his wife are running it. Food is improving and more consistent. They've added craft beer and marg's. There is still better out there by far; but its coming back to what it used to be.

Railhead in WP is pretty much a hit or miss deal. I've had some pretty decent brisket from there but I've also had the "pot roast" style you had. I don't willingly eat there anymore. (great place to have a drink or two, though) The last I heard on the Smoke Pit (from a regular there) was that the opening of the old Sammie's is on hold and may not happen at all.

Really glad to hear this - I would love to be a regular customer again. 70's & 80's Angelo's was great but they haven't been the same since Angelo passed away in the late 90's.

Railhead was the best when they were on Vickery St. since they moved they have gone down hill big dog. I judge BBQ by ribs and sauce, Angelo's is the winner hands down......Also if you guys are ever in Graham there is a food trailer here on MWF Daddy Bob's BBQ just as good as Angelo's.....
