With slabs I use a 1 oz slab and I don't cast it far and I don't count how long it takes to get to the bottom. It's all feel. Bouncing off the bottom is the preferred method. They tend to hit it on the fall. I use a tight line drop to feel the thump. If that makes any sense.

Went out last evening 5:30 till dark. Birds working off Meadowmere Park. Sat there and caught fish all evening. Lost count. 16' to 18' deep slabs worked ok but the fish were on top busting shad so humdingers rolled through the fish produced 10" to 13" fish with a few unders till I had to go. The waves were rough but you could see the surface action if you looked close.
Lake surface temp was 82 deg. Had the lake to myself. One trailer at the ramp at Meadowmere.

I just read up on it. Bad Juju. Recent testing of the water coming from Marshall creek is not good. Dissolved oxygen was way low among other things.
No wonder I haven't been able to catch fish up in the creek this year. Fish don't hang around where there is no Oxygen. Trophy club Water district having to pay some big fines.

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!
