Whats the best one out there. The wife likes to fish but doesn't care for anything other than spin cast. In the old days, the Zebco 33 was the bomb...but now it's a china turd. Bought flueger (sp) a few years back and it was good. Then bought another recently and its a turd..I'm guessing china as well.

II don't mind paying a good price for something if it exists. Does anyone know of a good spin cast?

Bought two Penn Conflict 2500s last year and two 3000s this year for saltwater fishing. Been really happy with them. You can get a good freshwater spinning reel for under $100.

I bought a Zebco Omega Pro for my dad a couple months ago and it has been very good, metal parts, 3 line pickups, bearings and extra spool. They make it in 2 different sizes. I bought one for myself last week for casting under docks...
Their newest is the Bullet which is more expensive but feels too heavy to me.

Johnson Century used to be good but not sure if they even exist anymore. Spincast reels have never been known for exquisite craftsmanship or reliability.

Not sure what you plan to fish for it I have multiple combos with shimano stradic ci4's and love them. 3000/4000 series will work for about anything inshore. You can usually find them on sale for about $~200 from time to time.

Woops, your looking for spin-cast, not spinning. I bought a few of the Zebcos Lannie suggested for my nieces and nephews and they have held up well.

I've had a Daiwa Goldcast for years, and it's been trouble free. Here's what the big boys have to say:

Yep, the Daiwa Goldcast or Zebco Omega are two spincast reels that are highly recommended. Nothing better than uncle_bagster's personal recommendation because he has used one or has it on hand for his wife, kids, grandkids or whoever needs to use it. I started by boys on open face spinning reels because I wanted them to learn using a real fishing reel.

Yay, that's basically what I do is to keep it on hand for beginners. Back in my day, you started out with a cane pole.

The Omega series are nice.... whichever you decide to use make sure you use real Magic on the line....it will make things so much better on casting.

You get what you pay for, and for the price Zebco can still make some decent reels. I got my dad the Zebco Platinum 33, and it's nice.

If you really want a dependable spincast, and feel new ones blow, then search ebay and buy a 60s/70s reel of any kind.

If you will spend a little time with her, she will take to the spinning reel. All spin-casts are junk and you will spend much more time trying to help her resolve issues than fishing. With just a little practice, she will thank you later.
