Low enough or should it be lower?

Unfortunately I couldn't get it to sit tight in that spot so I moved it. What do y'all think?

I would be concerned with the wire catching on a t-post, or stump.

I can't clearly tell what I'm seeing. It looks as though there is a recess in the center of hull specifically for the transducer. but the xducer appears to be mounted near a scupper hole.

Don't know where you fish so can't say for sure about the mounting location for your uses. If this were my boat the xducer would not last a day where it is in the photo. IMO, it needs to be fully protected from stumps, rocks, etc. If you have to drag the boat somewhere it will scrape the xducer off in no time.

If you fish real clean, deep water all the time you might be just fine. Might still need to be careful when loading the boat.

Why not just Goop it inside the hull? Nothing to snag or get damaged, and it's out of sight, out of mind.

For whatever reason. I couldn't get it to fit in the recess directly under the unit. Not using the lowrance scupper mount anyway. I might mess with it again today or buy a transducer arm.

It looks great on top. I was referring to underneath. A obstruction under the water could get hung on the exposed wire and pull on it.

Yessir I fixed that in the second pic. Ran the wire straight up the same scupper the ducer is in, then under the unit to keep it tidy, then drilled that hole to run it back out from under the unit. No more wire underneath.

Why not use the Scotty arm mount?

I might end up doing that. The scupper I'm mounted in is supposed to be transducer ready.

I'm going to try one more thing. I forgot that when I was trying to put the ducer in the middle part, I put an extension thing on it. I'm going to remove that and it should recess better where it's at now.

I've had good success using self-leveling caulk. Place the xducer where you want it, put in backer rod and pour full of sealant compound. you can do this on top too if necessary. makes for a really clean and solid mounting. No hardware required.

So finally called ACK about the issue and apparently the OK Trident is more suited for Humminbird transducers. Wish I had known that before purchasing the Hook 7. They recommended a xducer arm which I'm not against but it does suck.
Either that or my xducer is going to hand down a few inches.

Get a Mad Frog transducer arm, easy peasy.
