Just got back from fishing with Captain Mike Roy, reelcastcharters, in Connecticut, we fish out of Old Saybrook
Two 5 hour trips one night and one morning. Total haul was two over 30' lbs, new personal best of
32 lbs. 9 fish over 20 ( up to 27). Two around 12 , a couple more big fish pulled the hook right ar the boat.
A bonus bluefish .
A great trip and weather was perfect. We caught fish on live ells at night, live bunker on top and on bottom at 30 ft. Some of the biggest came on cut bunker. But there is something about a 20plus lb striper crashing a bunker on the surface that will get your blood racing .
We were joined on the first trip by Guy Fucci who shot some video for the you tube channel " adventure streaming guys" . Take a look at what they have and subscriber if you like it . I will let you know when they post the video they shot of my trip.
Here are a few of the fish, all released , most of them without removing from the water , less stress on the fish.

If you would like to catch big sea run striped bass , give Captain Mike a call 203 710 5116
He will work hard to put you on the fish of a lifetime.

Wow those are streamline monsters. Stripers that heavy would not look like that from Elephant Butte. Looks like a great trip.

Karpbuster are they still stocking elephant butte with striper? Last time I fished there was 1995. Everyone we talked to back then said state didn't stock them anymore. Said they hadn't heard of anyone catching any if a few years

Gotta love east coast Striper. Amazing thing is that a 30lb fish is medium size and 50+ is possible! I used to fish Chesapeake bay bridge tunnel at night with live eels and it is amazing. Couple pics from my brother from this week... just little ones but oh so tasty!

Can you tell any difference in taste between the land locked Stripers and the others?

Nice salt giant stripers, Mo! Heading up the in a few weeks. Wife already booked a lobster and an oyster catching trips. She said I already caught my Tennessee giants this year lol. Will see...thanks for sharing. Found out its flounder/fluke capital up there also.

To me they taste the same. I fry them, bake them, ceviche them and make sushi rolls with them and they are all good. The salt and fresh are both flaky white meat and are amazing. PM me if you want recipes!

I was just wondering. I eat a lot of freshwater stripers, but never have has a salt one.
