What's up everyone. Took some pictures of my 175gl Native Aquarium. I keep a variety of small sunfish and minnows along with a few plants. I've put a lot of work into this project and enjoy catching different species that aren't big but have great color and personality. Every time I go to new water I think about what fish, driftwood, rocks ect. would add vigor. The tank is in great shape and everyone is getting along well. Hope you guys enjoy the photos.

Always love your aquarium post Andrew. If I had a tank like that loaded with sunfish and Rios I would spend hours each day watching them. Great post and thanks for sharing. Been following your aquarium post for several years. Awesome job. woot

Side Note: How many fish do you have in that tank? Also how does the Rio get along with the other fish?

Great work Andrew! Like the rio in the mix, but I don't think the trout I'm catching right now would make it in there roflmao. The set up looks great

I think they are called rainbow dace but the old timers I learned from called them red bourse minnows on the Colorado. Used a few thousand for bait growing up. Seeing that brought back a lot of memories. Colorado is full of those things only place I've ever seen them.

Have a Texas native aquarium has really added to my fishing enjoyment. Your tank looks great. Here's a pic of mine. Not sure why I don't have a pic with my fish in it. I've got all males in mine with a bluegill, longear, green,Texas Rio, and a hybrid green/bluegill right now. Fishing for a nice red ear, red breast, and pumpkinseed right now.

I appreciate all the replies and compliments. It's cool that you guys enjoy it as well. This hobby is really enjoyable for me and also therapeutic,

Chuck- Cleaning isn't bad, I do three water changes (25%-45% of volume) a week by siphoning the gravel. They are "dirty" fish meaning there is lots of dookie. I also use a razor blade to scrape the glass to get rid of algae.

Curtis- I have about 35 fish in there. The Rio's are fun. I should note that I caught them October '15 at about 1-2" in the Colorado with a dip net. They pretty much have staked their claim in each hole of the cinder block. They get along with each other and none of the other fish mess with them. They are very calm, almost methodical, definitely seems to be the smartest fish.

Jamie- I will have fish in this aquarium live longer since most were caught as babies. My other aquarium is stocked with adult fish I catch. I'm happy getting 3yrs out of them. Right now my load is pretty full, I'll only make room for a rare or unique fish.

DR- I use pumps to break the surface tension for gas exchange, this takes the place of aerators for me.

Robert- if you are talking about the 3rd to last pic, thats a Red Shiner.

Yes they mutate in Stillwater like seriously lol. Stocked several conservation lakes with them they take on an entire new body structure when not fighting the current in the normal home in the river.
