The 7" medium is the universal spinning rod. It's a little heavy for super finesse but can get away with it. Good for heavier dropshotting, shakeyheads, wacky worms, finesse jigs, weightless plastics. Can get away with small cranks and topwaters. Not used for heavy cover jig fishing, frogging in slop, large swimbaits. I personally do not use MH spinning gear, but an older gentleman I know who is shorter than me likes his 6'6" MH for chatterbaits and texas rigs.
