I have a 2000 Merc 250 pro Xb on my Ranger 522vx. Anyone still running this motor? I'm pretty paranoid (probably read one too many horror stories on here haha). Anything I should be looking out for or doing special for this motor to keep it in top shape? I don't get to fish a lot because of my work schedule. Usually take it out about 5 times a year but plan to start going more often. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks for the help!

Carbon is that motors enemy. A good power tune treatment twice a year will keep it fresh.

I have this same boat and motor, but mine is now a 522DVX, cause I installed a passenger console and I have the 250 XB, and I love it just bad on gas, probably the most dependable motor I have ever had

Yeah same here. It's been a solid motor but you're correct it is a gas drinker. I did the same thing and had a passenger console built and installed after I bought it several years back. So far for me it's been a great boat and motor combo.

+1.

Replace all fuel lines and primer bulb.

Have injectors cleaned and flowed. Also the VST.

Check bleed lines.

Best 3.0 motor Mercury built.

On that motor the best thing you can do for it is prop it to let it turn alot of rpm. Shes a thirsty ole girl but they will build some power.
