I'm just posting this for those of us that have tight spaces to park our boats in and have issues with larger trucks. I used to drive an Ford crew cab short bed and putting my truck in reverse to park my 3400 lb skeeter in a lane was a nightmare. The incline to the slot is a good 40 degrees - yes, 40 degrees, and my truck would squeal the tires and throw a huge fit putting that boat in his home. Added to that the crapping turning radius and I was doing the in-and-out mambo a good 4 or 5 times to get the tires lined up right.

So my old truck wore out finally and I traded it in on a Lexus RX (small SUV) with the towing package and i'll be darned if that little puppy doesn't pull it just fine down the road, then push it without any squealing right up that 40* incline. What's more important, I can park the trailer on a dime and give you 9 cents change! It's better than birth control. Ok, almost.

The only hiccup is backing the trailer in the water. I open the back end and it beeps the whole way down the ramp roflmao

Sounds like you could use some practice driving a truck.

Haha, I've only got 25 years under my belt. The problem is the setup. The slip is on top of the 40 degree rise and the only way to get to it is from the side. Poor example...

Red "house" at the top is the house. Drive is below. The red X is where it should be easy to back up and right in, but due to the angle of the drive going up 20 ft in the air abruptly the skeg and trailer drags so it has to go up the right side, cut sharp left, then straighten up and slide in the slot. The little SUV can cut hard left and be almost sideways in that amount of space to back it right in. The truck had to do the forward and backward (up and down?) move to achieve the same result.

It's just an incredibly difficult spot.

I have about 2" on each side clearance between fence and house. Can't go straight in due to tree in the way. I could get in there in one or two "in and outs" with my little Ranger. Now have F250 crew cab long bed and it is a little harder to get in there. Sometimes I have to get it close and push it in the rest of the way. The little Ranger was better for maneuverability but towing with the F250 is better.

Put the plug in.

It's like the driveway we had on Glenn in Euless. Really fun on icy mornings.

I used to think so too, but I won't buy any gObama Motors vehicles anymore after the bailout, which left Dodge out too. Ford is all I got left and it was a real workhorse.

You know ford was bailed out by the govt long before gm?

Far too many know far too little about the bailout anyway. GM had financial problems based on govt mandated lending practices.

Did you also know that GM paid back every dollar they borrowed?

It's your call, but I hate to see folks buy inferior trucks and replace them with small SUVs when a good Chevy or Ram truck would have done you fine from the start.

wrong, GM repaid the loan portion of the automaker bailout ahead of schedule, with interest. It used TARP money it had already received but hadnt spent. And taxpayers are still stuck with GM stock that isnt worth what was paid for it.

I guess GM and Ram have the same power, traction and turning radius as a small SUV. Glad we established that.

And by the same logic... we deduced that GM and Ram... AND a small SUV have more power and traction than ford... right? roflmao

clap Must give credit. That was funny!

I just hope his small SUV is taller that a Ford because it's getting deep in here.
