I have a minn Kota 24 volt trolling motor can I charge both batteries with an one bank charger or do I have to have a two bank charger and charge each battery separate. I have heard both can be charged by just hooking one battery to the charger

Im sure somebody else will jump in here, but here's my .02 cents.
I am assuming the one bank charger you have is a 12 volt output. I am also assuming you leave your 2 trolling motor batteries hooked up in series.
If both of these are true, then you could leave batteries hooked up as is, and just charge them one at a time without taking them out of series before charging.
The only option to charge both at the same time, would be to tie the batteries in parallel which I have never done since I keep mine hooked up in series for my 24v trolling motor, and I am not sure if the batteries will charge as well like that vs being charged independently 1 at a time.
Sounds like a multi bank charger would eliminate some of the hassle for you down the road.
Again, just my .02 cents.

I run a 24 volt and if i try to charge them both at once I'll burn up and melt my Optima charger clamps. Metal clamps are OK of course, but since it doesn't output 24 volts it gets dang hot trying to charge both batteries. So now i just disconnect them from each other and charge them separately. It works.

The proper way of charging two batteries is with a two bank charger. Each batter connects to the charger with its own positive and negative cables.

2 batteries in series will double your voltage, but your ampere's will remain constant... 24v 10A... in parallel, your voltage stays the same but your ampere's will double. 12v 20A. the more current flows the more heat is produced.
