Dad and I hit Lake Tawokini and we fished the Timber up on the North End of the Lake.

The fish were biting real good yesterday.

All you had to do was put it down in the water and you had a fish on.

We caught them as shallow as 12 feet and as deep as 20 Feet. 16 Feet was a real good sweet spot for us.

Pretty much the same exact pattern all lakes are in at the moment.

We each were fishing with a 10 Foot ACC Crappie Stix.

We had 20 pound Power Pro Super Slick Braid with an 8 pound Vanish Flourocarbon Leader.

We rigged up a Double Jig Set Up.

We worked from the Top of the Tree Down.

Some trees were visible.
Some were 6 inches out of the water.
Some were 12 inches under the water but with polarized sunglasses you could see them.

We used 1/8 ounce feather jigs.

Colors Purple, Baby Blue, Pink, Neon Green, Chartreuse, and White were used.
(PEPOP AND BUBBAS BAITS)

No minnows were harmed.
We lost around 20 jigs for various reasons.

We both managed some Doubles yesterday.

I managed a double with a Crappie on the Top Jig and a Black Bass on the bottom jig.
That was a sight to see.
It looked like the black bass was chasing the Crappie as I reeled them up. Both released.

We caught several very nice Sand Bass all released.

We caught well over 100 fish and kept 35.

Wear your Life Jacket, Wear plenty of Sunscreen, and drink lots and lots of water.

The following Sunscreen works great. It does not feel greasy.

We use this for the head, neck, and face area.

We use this for the hands, arms, and legs.

Finally got a chance to add some pics from our day of fishing last Monday.
You can see the Double with the Crappie on top and the black bass on the bottom of which both were released. That really was fun reeling them up.
A pic of them laying in the bottom of the boat.
Another Double with a couple of Crappie that were obviously both released.
A pic of our Live Well obviously about to bust because it was so full.
A pic of the Crappie transferred into our cooler before I covered them in ice.

Enjoy.

Awesome report.... I've been wanting to try tawakoni.... haven't been on it since I was a kid.....and if you'll switch to sunline or seagar red label you won't break off so many jigs....vanish is turrible

Thanks for the replies everyone.

We did not break off or lose the jigs because of the leader line itself.
There was no getting the jigs unstuck out of their predicament.
It was wrapped around limbs by a fish and stuff like that.

I may try your recommendations some day, but I personally like the Vanish Clear/Gold.

Tight Lines! fish
