Bearings blew RIGHT as I'm backing in lake bonham this morning... didn't bring any tools with me...
Can I limp home on 3 tires? If so how fast? Or bad idea, need to try to repack hub ASAP?

I would not try it. There is a good chance that your spindle would drag the ground, then you will be replacing and axle.

Tie the axle up against the frame and limp home.

Tried that one time coming back from Rayburn. Made it to Carthage. Rest of the wheels fell off in an intersection. Lucky there is a place that builds trailers there. It was and expensive fix.

no problem coming home like a "three legged dog"...been lucky myself but several of my buddies have done this over the years some of them 200-300 miles home....just be sure axle isn't going to drag...some trailers will let axle drag when you take wheel off, some won't....take your belt off if you have to have something to tie it up with....
being able to get back home on three wheels is one of the great advantages about a tandem trailer....

The axle does not even get close to dragging when on 3 wheels. Both are torsion axles and both are welded to the frame. Doesn't even look like it's stressing it... I might try it. It is about 35 miles. I just wanted to see if anyone had done this, obviously not ideal but wanted to see if it's a total no no. I know my 20 foot Blazer isn't that heavy. You could get it from the factory with a single axle. So I don't think weight will be an issue...

Limited thanks to the trailer fiasco. Bonham was slow... but I'm also traditionally bad summer/deep water angler so you can take that for what it's worth.

Didn't you check/pack the bearings after you bought it? Knowing the previous owners I wouldn't have pulled it to Mountain Creek, lol
