Zero Ball Bearings. I just finished reading all I could find on this new reel and it's definitely caught my attention. It doesn't help the color scheme matches my Charger! It supposedly outperforms their other reels with no metallic or ball bearings and for only $200. What are your thoughts?

I have 4 Concept A's and so far they've been good to me but I personally would wait until their on the market for a while before I try one out.

I inshore fish for the most part and loved my Concept As until they started corroding on the frame. I take care of my gear and this kinda made me take a step back from them but this peaked my interest. I like what i see so far, but will give them a few months out on the market before i buy one

A friend of mine is at iCast just so happens their booth is directly across from 13 Fishing. He checked out the reel for me yesterday and says all the hype is true. Pros are saying you can cast it as far as there is line on the spool.

$200? I'm definitely getting some. Was afraid they would be at the higher end.

Lots of guys like them. I haven't read a lot of glowing reviews about them. The big selling point seems to be the heavier drag, but if you know how to set a drag, that becomes a non-issue.

I have a friend in the reel repair business who is starting to get a lot of the 13 reels in for repairs..he doesn't seem to think they will hold up in the long run.

The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?

The Concept Z did not take best in show as expected----LEWS DID IT 4th YEAR IN A ROW!

Cabelas has the Lews Super Dutys on sale for $129 (Reg $179). Lews is coming out with a newer version so they're on sale.

Pretty much wrong on all accounts.

Actually best in show was a stand up paddleboard....the Bote Rover.
Best freshwater reel was a Shimano Curado K.
Best saltwater reel was a Shimano Sustain.

Lews did win the best rod/reel combo with their Mach Crush Speed Spool Combo.

As almost always, it'll pay to wait at least one "model year" so they can work out/correct the bugs their engineers never seem to find . . . but thousands of hours on the water by real anglers will expose.

I bought one of the 13 Fishing new spinning reels, the top of the line of the three they released. It was a good "bet" since the reel was only $89 or thereabouts. But, it is definitely not even close in performance to my Shimano Stradic Ci4+ spinning reels.

13 Fishing does a really, really good job in promotion, that is for sure, and they seem very adept at getting a whole lot of coverage in key areas.

My neighbor uses a Concept A and it does cast a mile, or he can, and it rarely messes up.

This one should be fun to watch!

Brad

Well shoot me and call me dead---Why on earth would I compare a reel to a paddleboard?? Did a Lew's reel win a Best of Show category?? Yes it did so how was I wrong other than not specifically stating which category!

I own an E, a TX and three C's. I like the E and TX the best.
Some issues I have had have been with grease getting into the anti-reverse bearing.
So far I have cleaned two reels and restored the "like new" feeling.

I have worked on (and owned) a lot of reels from Shimano, Academy, Lews, BPS, Daiwa, and ABU.
The 13 Fishing reels are about the same inside as all the rest.
The major things that increase price are the materials, bearings, and (light) weight. The only "dumb" part of their design is the drag clicker - insanely small parts.

The new bearings look to be drop fit replacements for ball bearings.
I also noticed they will be offering bearing upgrades in the Trick Shop.

13 Fishing is great at marketing and seem to keep their prices up - I rarely ever see one on sale.
Their service leaves something to be desired.....learn to work on your own reels for best results.
