I've never fished this lake and I am planning on going this weekend. Any suggestions/tips?
From my online research:
- it's a super clear deep water lake - some vegetation - last couple of Tuesday night tournaments took 15.38 and 12.56 to win, with a 9.18 and a 8.08 big bass - tpwd report says "Water murky; 7680 degrees; 0.35 high. Black bass are fair on watermelon spinnerbaits and soft plastics."
couple questions. I was thinking of launching at Stillhouse Park. Does anyone know if it's open 24/7? Any other general location tips? Not looking for exact spots. I'm just taking my old man fishing and wanting to get him on some fish. Stillhouse is halfway between us!

I'm hardly an expert on that lake as it kicks my arse all the time! Every time you go out there though you know there's the potential for catching a large fish. I was out there last weekend and had mixed results. The water is super clear in the main lake, just like most lakes the further you get from the damn it gradually becomes more stained. Lots of hydrilla growth (PLEASE nobody tell TPWD). Typical summer approach, main lake points and humps. caught fish on jerkbaits and Trigs on the outside edges of the hydrilla mats. Can get tough to fish if the wind picks up as most of the lake is open. Beautiful little lake though that's hopefully on its way back to the way it was about 10-15 years ago.
Check a map if you can, there are some hazardous areas out there that are just below the surface. Lots of trees, etc., in some areas. Other areas are wide open. Saw some folks last weekend blow through areas where I waited to see their motor kick up from hitting a tree/shallow. They were lucky.
Best of luck.
