im in the market for another bass boat but i have decided i will not pay the $200 south arlington storage rates to keep the boat in an enclosed building. so my question is what size boats are yall able to store in the basic 2 car garages? mine measures 19'6" deep and 18' wide. i'm hoping i can get a 20 footer in there!

thx in advance

Look for one with a swing-a-way tongue!! That's the only way mine fits in the garage and that's diagonally not straight in as well! Each company's boat will be about the same so make sure you check the trailer length. And if it has Talons/Poles LOWER them before backing in! Learned that the hard way lol.

Honestly that is a very small garage and a 20' boat will barely fit at a 45 degree angle with the motor lowered and put all the way in a back corner and a swing away tongue in the opposite corner by door. Basically a 20' boat will completely take up the whole "two car garage". Honestly w/only 18' wide you would have difficulty parking 2 cars in there without playing NASCAR and climbing out of the windows. Couple years ago we were in a rent house while building another. The garage was a little bigger than the one you are describing but not much. My 521 Ranger w/folding trailer tongue FILLED diagonally the entire garage.

I've got a 20ft boat in a 25ft deep garage with about 4 inches to spare (eng touching back wall)and folding tongue. Garage entry is 9ft wide and grazed the side of entry several times. Carport may be an option.

Diagonally a 20 footer with a fold-a-way tongue may fit but good luck trying to move a tandem axel trailer by hand.

Everyone is assuming you have a 2 car garage with and standard double wide garage door. My brother measured his garage and bought a bass boat that would fit in his garage. He had (2) single garage doors dived by a brick column and forgot to measure the width of his trailer from outside fender to outside fender. Needless to say it didn't fit through his garage door.

I once bought a house because my Bass Boat would fit in the garage.

Yeah when you buy a new house, detached garage or 3 and 4 car Tandem garages. I could fit a 20" 2" boat with a swing away tongue into a garage of similar dimensions at 1 point.

i know it will have to be at an angle and i will need gojaks to position the dual axle trailer in there but i was hoping some guys that are storing theirs in a similar garage would specify which boats would actually fit.

Years ago I had this same question. If I recall, the math to measure the diagonal of a square is one side X 1.413. So your 18 ft short side is 25.4 diagonal. That's the length you have to work with.

If you google "skeeter garage"' the first image returned is my old 05 (new at the time) ZX250 in my 19 ft garage. That's a 21 ft boat with a 250 and 12 inch jack plate. If you watched me put it in there you would swear it would never fit until the very last shove that got it at the correct angle

Here is the old post with picture still attached

Maybe you should also look at a new storage building. I have a 10x30 enclosed in Houston for only $95 a month. $200 is outrageous.

Good luck. I have a 3 1/2 car garage and can't use it for my 17' boat. I just use a cover

unfortunately i live in a hose that has no yard or i would do just that. thought about a large carport addition to the front of the house but i doubt its a good financial decision. my house is paid off and i have been trying to get my wife to sell so we can move to home with more land but she likes not having a mortgage. i do too especially since we have sacrificed and paid the house off in only 12 yrs. she would rather get an rv at fork and leave the boat there. then we would have somewhere to retreat to on the weekends. in my younger dsy i would just do what i wanted and not tske her opinion into consideration. but turning 40 has softened me up i guess!!!! lol
