Hi Guys!
I usually hang out in the fly fishing section but my wife and I hit Lake Bridgeport for some Bluegills on fly rods last month. We shot a video of the trip and I thought I would share it with you guys. Hope you enjoy it.

Got a question. Always called the larger mouthed fish "rock bass" and the smaller mouthed "bluegill". Two separate species. Have caught both in the same area.

My wife was using a nine foot, six weight Cabellas Three Forks and I was using a nine foot, four weight TFO.
Banker is correct. We mostly caught Green Sunfish and Longears and I caught one Bluegill. To be politically correct I should have named the video " Bridgeport Sunfish" but it didn't roll off the tounge as well and I didn't think anybody would really care anyway.
Thank you for the replies gentleman.

Yea, I spend a lot of time going through music, trying to find a song that matches the tempo and mood of the video. It's hard to find a song that screams out " Bluegill fishing"!!! And, and you DO find a great song, it has lyrics about drugs, dead dogs, trains and killing people... bang roflmao

Sounds like the addiction is taking hold...
I use a five weight for most of my fishing around home. I have two, four weights for sunfish and trout. My wife likes the six weight though - says the heavier rod helps her cast farther. And I have two sevens and an eight for bigger stuff and saltwater. Pretty much, fly fishing is about all I do anymore.

GREAT video and good times as a couple. I love getting those bluegill on my 2wt. I'm your neighbor and we need to go fishing. I've got the black Champion boat just a few houses down.

Absolutely we need to go fishing! I've seen your boat in the neighborhood - very sharp boat. I'll send you a pm.

LOL! You're on the right track with your music selections. Film is just another way to tell a story, but it's a complicated way because you have visuals, music, sometimes dialogue. Hats off when you do a great job, as you often do.

I prefer your videos to 90% of the fishing videos I've seen, period. Here are the top three things that make me nope the hell out of most other videos:

1. The music is too loud and wrong for the subject. I like the occasional heavy metal song as much as the next guy, but what does heavy metal have to do with the calming pursuit of spending time in nature?

2. XTREME ANYTHING, or "Bro Let's Yell As Loud As We Can And High-5 Each Other Every Time We Get A Fish!" This is related to my first gripe and shows up in a lot of the same videos.

3. No respect for the fish or the outdoors. I'm talking about those who have obviously spent enough time outdoors to know proper fish handling, land use (trespassers), etc.

Keep doing what you're doing Capt. Mac. You're already good at it and you'll only get better.

I can agree with your wife about the heavier rod casting further. Seems I make my better cast using my 5wt and 8wt. To me fly fishing is a bit more of a challenge. Love the feel of the fish on a flyrod.

Side Note: I still love using my spinning gear along with my wide variety of lures. woot

Texan - thanks for the love! One of the hardest things about producing a video ( aside from actually having to catch fish) is trying to find a song that works for a given video. But it's also kind of fun - it's all about the hunt - especially when it comes out the way you want it to.

Laker - I've still got some spinning gear and I still like to use it from time to time. But it's getting farther and farther in between.
