 First time fishing Matagorda

I'll be going down to matagorda bay this weekend for the first time. I've never fished the coast before so I'm not sure what lures/baits would be best. I fish freshwater lakes for bass frequently so would any of those lures work well in the saltwater for reds and trout? Also I'll be fishing from a kayak.

wake up very very very early... and get live bait, it runs out fast on the bait shop by 6 am is gone...
