I'm wanting to fish the Sealy Big Bass tournament on Lake Fork in September. I've never fished it before but I know it generally has a huge turnout. I fish in a 17' aluminum Tracker. Am I going to get beat to death with all the boat traffic? I've only fished small tournaments before so this would be my first large tournament. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Depends on how bad you want to get out there. It will be a mad house, I assume you have experience in your boat, but where there's a will there's a way

No, know your limitations before hand, enjoy the day. Maybe you win?

Stick to coves near where you put in. Don't not try to run all over the place or fish too close to the boat lanes, and you'll be fine. If you do want to fish out in open water, anchor down and expect to ride some chop. Trailer your fish in if you need to, running the lanes for a long distance in a light boat with that traffic can kill your back!

I say do it. Also, remember to launch somewhere close to weigh-in so you can bring in the winner without having to drive across the lake with all the yay-hoos in the way. Skeeter Owners this year pretty much summed up my decisions on ever fishing a big tourney again. I'd say over half of the people out there does not know how to safely operate their vessel. That's a scary!

It's a great time!!! Would reccommend launching near weigh in and if you don't know fork very well then use the boat lanes, and idle anywhere outside of them.

I just returned from Pickwick where we fished the HS National Championship and World Finals. Pickwick is 53 miles long and has a lot of yacht and barge traffic. While we were up there, we met a team from Florida and became friendly with them. They were fishing out of a 17' flats boat with a 90hp Merc. EVERYONE passed them on the way out in the mornings...... When all the dust settled, they ended up getting 3rd in the World Finals. An awesome finish against some of the very best HS teams in the nation. While this may seem long winded and roundabout, the point is - it's not the arrow, it's the Indian. Go fish, have fun.

Nah, you'll be fine. Launch at a ramp close to where you intend to fish and be patient with traffic on and off the water.

If it was easy, everyone would do it

I've done it, (different tournament, same lake) in a 15 ft 1966 Super Skeeter. As others have said, pick an area and fish the [censored] out of it.

Yes you are, but not because of your boat. It is a circus out there, be careful.

Use that small boat to your advantage, go pre fish and find fish in the tightest, nastiest, out of the way, hardest to get in to with one of those big shine $ 80,000 bass boat spot you can find and you just might find a big fish that does see a 1000 lures a day Back about 35 years ago in a stump infested little lake in south Mississippi I would take the big boys money on a regular basis fishing from a 15' rental Jon boat with only a trollling motor GO DO IT , FISH YOUR STRENGTHS
