I'm headed to Smithville for a family reunion next weekend. I'm gonna drag the boat down and try fishing lake Bastrop. Any tips?
Grass? Timber?
Offshore, beat the bank?
I'm open to suggestions.

bring a yo zuri topwater in as clear as possible! basstrop is a blast this time of year...lemme know if you need a backseat!

What is the water clarity like?
Is there any grass?
Is there timber?
What color is best for soft plastic after the top water bite is done?

There is grass. If you want to throw soft plastics, I recommend watermelon green, crawfish shapes.

Grass is everywhere. There is timber in the north coves. Water temps are in the low to mid-90s. Clear to off-color water clarity. Watermelon and smoke grubs along the grass lines. The bass should be heading out to the main lake areas for school. It is almost in session.
