For 3 years I've had a 14' V-hull Jon Boat with a 9.9 horse motor sitting in my yard, basically collecting anything that could fall in it. After many hours this weekend painting, motor work, new benches, new floor, carpet and so on I finally got it on the water tonight. I live a stone's throw from Lake Lewisville and know it's a good Crappie and Sand Bass lake but have no experience whatsoever with the lake. Anyone that can point me in the right direction for catching some fish? No electronics right now... soon.... tried under the bridge in Little Elm today and only caught a few.

On another note... why is it everyone I've ever taken fishing with me spends the entire time trying to either constantly change their baits (this color to that or completely change setups all together[literally had my friend who says he's a fisherman tie on a top water frog while we were tied under a bridge in 25ft of water]) or they spend so much time trying to keep 2 or 3 or 4 rods going that I'm catching fish after fish on 1 rod and they're getting mad at me.

LOL...fisherman, imagine that. We seem to have our own set of quirks.

The bridges on Lewisville have good crappie on them but you have to move constantly. You may only get 1 good fish every 3 columns you fish. I have been finding them suspended 15 ft down on the bridges out there. You may also try the timber just south of the Little Elm bridge as it should have some fish on it in the 15-25 ft range. Again, covering water is very important right now especially with bridges and timber. I hope this helps. Also watch the wind as this lake is rough in a strong south or north wind.

Not from that area so no help here, but I wanted to agree with fishin'acholic2, to be very careful and observant for wind, large wakes from boats in a jon boat. They are very easy to swamp. Learned my lesson many years ago, even though it was a flat bottom jon boat. I have a jon boat and I will take it out on a small lake, but I will not take it to a large lake, and I am under the impression Lewisvelle is a pretty good size lake. Be safe..

Lewisville is a large lake for sure. I haven't been putting it on the water when other boaters are an issue. Generally putting it in right around dark or during the week. When it gets windy I will get in a cove somewhere and wait it out. I appreciate the advice. I got some electronics on it tonight and got a couple hours of fishing in after the rains. It was a little windier than I liked and we ended up tying off to some trees right off the main lake in about 15 foot of water. No luck. Will be trying again this week.
