I was also thinking of leaving the top 2 pipes 10ft long so that it would lay on the bottom diagonally and go from the bottom to 10 foot up.

here is a tip that will save you a lot of time building these. When you drill your holes , cut at an angle and don't cut a full circle , leave about 1/8 of the circle uncut. You may have to experiment with different size holes to get a good fit. do both sides this way, When you get to the lake , just push the " flaps " inside , and push the smaller pipe thru the hole. There should be enough friction to hold the "limbs" in place.
this really speeds up deployment , no wire or zip ties needed.
