I am going to Cripple Creek Colorado in 3 weeks and wanted to see if anyone can help with some fishing opportunities close to this area. It would be bank fishing with girlfriend type of deal and any info would be greatly appreciated.

Lot of gold medal trout water around that area. Look up some of the local fly shops and they can help you

Love Cripple Creek. Usually there for Donkey Derby Days, but not this year. And WINNING at Johnny Nolan's.
Check out the lakes in the Pikes Peak park. I think that you might not even need a license, check at the entrance. I always see some people sitting on the banks with stringers full.
A phone call to the park might help you get ready.
Take a ride on the Gold Mine Tour.

Definitely do the Gold Mine tour and museum! I bear hunted around there years ago in the spring before they ended the spring season but never fished due to the runoff in May. I did get invited to fish in a private lake west of there which was well stocked with rainbows, caught a nice bunch of them and a 20" native cutthroat!
Lots of gold has come out of those waters too! Don't know if it is still there but there was a place in town to pan for gold, some locals made enough to live on there.
And if you see fresh gravel being laid for a parking lot there will probably be a lot of people picking through it looking for turquoise, we found several nice pieces in a fresh lot that my wife made jewelry with.

Go across the street to gamble. Always had better luck at Bronco Billy's.

Thanks again Big Hopper, bronco and Mo. This is the kind of stuff that is great about the TFF. You can't beat first hand knowledge versus Internet search. Have any of you done the Jeep or atv rentals around area ?

No on the ATV Rental, but I totally back up the Phantom Canyon Road drive. Just go "down hill". That's from Cripple Creek to Canyon City. Not the other way around. I did it in my Crown Vic one year. Just take it slow and steady, and be ready to meet someone head-on. One of you might have to back up a little to let the other by. I went down Shelf Road in my GMC PU last year. Nearly as good as Phantom Road.
The mine tour is the Mollie Kathleen mine, just as you get into town. Don't be scared.
The Melodrama at the Butt Theatre in Cripple Creek is usually pretty good. I like the one at The Iron Springs Chateau in Manitou Springs better. The show is super cheesy but the crowd makes it lots of fun, booing and cheering. Kid friendly. It's just outside Colorado Springs. Lots of shopping and people watching in Manitou and Old Colorado City if the spouse wants to go into town one day.
Give us a report when you get back.
