Only fished for trout below the spillway. Barbless, catch and release only. Good times.

It was a good striper lake about 30 yrs. ago. Don't know about now. Give the people at Swaha Lodge a call.

Made our first trip out to Greeson last year. Water is much more clear than most NE Tx lakes, so prepare for that. Didn't get to do a lot of fishing, but caught a mixed bag doing a little bit of trolling main lake points with crank baits. Beautiful lake and almost no boating traffic on weekdays. We stayed at Self Creek, nice place. I looked forward to going back this year, but the family decided they wanted something different, so we're headed to Palestine in a few weeks.
BTW, they did cease stocking striper in Greeson several years ago so I didn't take much gear to chase them with. Found 2 of them floating near the dam that would have pushed 20lbs. One was fresh, like a day or slightly more dead, the other had been dead for a few days at least. So there are still some in the lake, and I'd bet they aren't getting any smaller.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

Check out Arkansas Game and Fish for the weekly fishing reports. Topwater action is good early and C-rig, deep cranking, jigs, or drop shot off of points is typically a sound strategy. You should see some breaking fish and will be able to target those as well. Greeson is plentiful with Kentucky bass. Keep a close on eye on your electronics and you will notice an abundance of brush piles throughout the lake. Some are marked by the COE with fish habitat signs, but most are put in by local residents. Lake is deep and water is clear. You should catch fish and enjoy your stay. If you choose to venture out a little, Lake Ouachita is another good place to spend a day on the water. Both the fishing and the view make it worth the trip.
