So me and my dads kayaking trip to Walter E. Long was cancelled and now we've decided to go 12 miles to Canyon. I'm not familiar with the lake at all and need any advice I can get. I know it's clear and that's about as much as I know. I've already done a youtube search with really little to no info taken. Any help will do

Rebecca Creek road bridge to the lake is a Flat water paddle, little to no flow to help you on your way.
The lake it's self is full of SeeDo's and Boats on the weekend with quite a bit of boat traffic during the week as well. Canyon lake boat ramp #11 is at the mouth of Rebecca Creek and the Guadalupe River and has been good fishing for me.
What type of trip are you looking for? Float and paddle or fishing?

I enjoy putting in at ramp #11, and paddling up stream fishing, and then floating / paddling back to the ramp.
Putting at Nichols Landing Co Park and going down to the Rebecca Creek Bridge is nice, but the flow is a little low on the Guadalupe this week.

As mentioned, putting in at ramp #11 way up river is your best bet since the launch is in a protected creek off the main river channel. There are also plenty of trees along the channel and another creek where you can find protected water. Don't rule out seeing jet ski's and pleasure boaters that far up river since they will be there as long as they can float their boat.
Just one more cast!
