You could also start building rods. That's even more effective that fly tying..................

"Hi, I'm Mick and I'm a flyfishinggearoholic!"
"Hi, Mick"
"It's been six days since I bought my last fly rod!"
"And four days since I bought my last gear."
"And two days since I bought my last fly tying stuff."
"Never mind."

There is a very easy solution. Just start tying your own flies. Then you will spend all of your money on fly tying materials and you won't have any money left to buy more fly fishing gear... Ain't that the truth! I can't leave FTU, Bass Pro, or any fly shop without dropping over $50 worth of fly tying materials. I should just call up Hareline and have them ship me some of everything.

Years ago, I ran into a friend in a fly shop.
"I didn't know you flyfished" we both said to each other.
"Do you tie flies?" He asked.
"No," I said."I have a life."
Now I have a room in the house called The Tying Room and it is full to overflowing.

Need details. What brand of 2 wt and do you still have the itch to pick up an 8 wt?
I'm pretty much in the same boat as you as far as addicted to buying stuff. My wife has threatened to cut up my credit card if I don't stop buying flies online. She doesn't understand that if your catching fish, fish are tearing up your flies. Plus there always seems to be something I don't have that looks like a bass might want to eat it.
Most of my shopping is online because I'm on the wrong side of Tarrant county to make too many trips to Cabelas, Bass Pro, or Orvis. There is a Gander mountain in Arlington, but it is closing. There wasn't that much fly fishing gear there, but Walmart and Academy near here don't have anything.
I'm secretly squirreling away $20 here and there to get a 2 wt myself.

Lol, I have an addiction as well, but I have mine under control, or I should say my wife has my addiction under control. I can get what ever I want, just have sell like item to fund it. That's why my 3wt combo is up for sale. Sold my 5 and 8 to get a 2 and 4, now the 3 is up for sale to get a 6wt mangrove. Lol

I paid for a Gloomis GLX on ebay but I have yet to receive it, most likely will never get it plus the person I bought it from does not respond to my messages. Tomorrow is their last day to respond or ebay will be refunding the money. I would buy another Allen fly rod in 2wt but it looks like they do not make a 2wt. I am pretty sure I have talked myself into a TFO Finess 2wt.

I am pretty sure I have talked myself into a TFO Finess 2wt. I picked up a Cabela's CGR glass 2 weight for $65 last Christmas. Money well spent. It handles the short stuff well and fighting a big redbreast sunfish feels wrestling with a tarpon. With a 2 weight you're not bombing 80 foot casts so glass vs. graphite really is irrelevant. The only thing I don't like about it is the dumb friction reel seat. I've figured out a way to make it work, but it's always there causing doubt in the back of my mind. If I get a little more time, I may experiment with some surgery to get a locking reel seat on it. With that said if I were going to do it again, I would probably go with a 3 weight though because you have way more line choices in 3 weight than 2 weight.

I love my Finesse 2 wt. it is my rod of choice. I have a Redington Zero reel with an extra spool. One is filled with a TFO WF3F line and the other a Bass Pro Small creek DT2F line. The Finesse casts both lines with ease. I generally grab the 3wt spool just to help with the winds here in TX, and the larger flies that I tend to throw. 2 wt line I can throw the same flies, but it gets ugly with the wind so it's used on the calmer days when permitted..

I got to cast a 2wt Finess this week. I could not cast it very well but I had never cast a 2wt before. Not sure now if a 2wt is for me,it made me like my 4wt Allen rod even more.

Never cast glass rod before. slowwww dowwwwn ^^^ 1+. Feeling the rod flex all the way down into your hand can be strange as well if you are use to tip flex graphite.
