Located a fantastic school of fish late yesterday afternoon on a quick twilight trip. Boated 18-20, all striper less one magnum hybrid. Biggest 5 striper well exceeded 70 pounds total including this one just over 34" in length, my biggest of the year. All fish were caught on 1oz hair jigs paired with 4" Bonehead sassy shad. Fish were suspended at 25' in 40-45 foot of water. 2 ft too deep or 2 ft too shallow and we were not getting bit. Fish absolutely did not cooperate with a vertical presentation either. Would have liked to see more bait to bring these fish closer to the surface as it would have been a heck of a show!! Fish for fish average, I have never had an afternoon this good on any lake, ever. Flat out giants!!

Also, all fish were caught and immediately released for our children to one day catch, so no pic of biggest 5 together!!

What a day, great fishing sir. thumb So, when the vertical presentation wouldn't work, did you just start rolling your lure thru the fish?

Trolling without down riggers made it impossible for us to keep in the strike zone. That's why I went with the 1oz bucktail with Bonehead sassy. Made long casts, let fall for 10 seconds (25ft), and stroked it like a jig. That effectively ensured at multiple points I was in the strike zone. On several occasions I could actually feel the jig ripping through the fish that were less aggressive. The sensitivity of the braid really helped me feel when I was in them!!

Very impressive.
Not an easy presentation, kudos.
