The "fishing alone" thread got me thinking about buying a inflatable life jacket but I dont know a lot about them.
Im looking for one thats light and comfy so ill actually wear it. What do you guys suggest?
What about the waist belt ones?

I use these.... very light and i wear them all day. You do forget they are on. I don't trust my balance and hated wearing a full vest type. This gives me piece of mind when i fish alone. https://www.amazon.com/ABSOLUTE-OUTDOOR-...2QS5MGD9XAWC1QNI think Academy has them for 90 bucks?? I only gave the amazon link so you could read a bunch of reviews. hope this helps.

I have an Onix. It works. I'd prefer the Mustang since the straps seem thicker and the mustang appears to be more comfortable. But, I only have experience with the Onix, so that's only a guess on my part.
All of them are only as good as they are maintained...and then only work if ya wear it.

Which ever brand you go with, make sure it has auto inflate. When I bought mine from Cabelas, I almost got one that was not auto inflate.

I know you are planning to wear it the whole time so this may be irrelevant but make sure you check the Coast Guard rating for the inflatable before you buy it. If they are Type V they only count as a life jacket in your boat if they are being worn. There are plenty of Type II or III inflatables available now.

So if you have a type II it qualifies as a pfd when you get checked by GW. I have the Cabela's 3500 that were $99 on sale. I also carry the normal pfd which I prefer on long runs in the winter.

I'm also looking for it and I'll get back here if I find any worth recommending.

I always carry a traditional life jacket for everyone in the boat even though I wear the inflatable. I have a Mustang HIT Type II but the printing has worn off the label and I'm not taking a ticket for that.

Anyone use the Gander Mountain brand. Gander is going out of biz, and they are on sale regular 139 with 30% off.

I confirmed this with a game warden friend of mine. In the beginning nearly every inflatable was rated Type V. That's not the case now.
