I'll be at Martin Creek from Friday thru Wednesday.
Fished it a few weeks ago and caught them on a C-Rig.
I saw (and heard) tons of feeding in the weeds and pads around the state park.
I'd love to practice my topwater skills in the dark (because I have none).
What bait, color, cadence, etc.?
Need a little schooling here.
Whaddaya got?

in the open water areas a jitterbug, whopper plopper, popper, or buzzbait will work well. I usually stick with black lures at night but Martin Creek is quite clear so other colors should work. mainly a steady retrieve helps them notice and then lock onto the bait. if you are in/around the pads either a reg frog or a buzzfrog would work again sticking with the darker colors. I haven't fished that lake at night but it has some BIG fish in there!

Remember topwaters at night are multi hook flying objects coming back at you on a missed hook set. A frog might be your safest bet!

Night time is the best way to hook up on the bite. You will hear it but can't see it. That is just right to make the best hook ups. Just lean into the fish with Braid and slid them to the boat.

The rhythm is the same for me with lots of patience. I still throw the Spook next to the grass when possible.
- Make the cast.
- The splash down is attractive to big fish.
- Let it sit and be patient.
- One twitch with a downward motion to make the bait turn a half turn. Let it sit some more.
- Another downward Twitch will turn the bait in the opposite direction.
- Standing to do this is a must. Your rod tip ticks the water on that downward motion.

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.
