Yeah. Great line. Of course you have the stretch to deal with on the mono, but I use 15 big game for a lot of applications. Fishing around really heavy cover I throw them on 50 pound braid with a 20 pound flouro leader so I can get the fish to the top of the water as quickly as possible and pull them across the top.

Are you putting the fluro leader so the fish cant see the line?

Normally I am moving the swim jig so fast I am not concerned about them seeing the line so I tie straight to the braid.

I normally throw mine on braid as well. Swim jig has been most successful for me around vegetation (pads, grass, or reeds) and braid has advantages there.

I only use braid on a swim jig.

I've used straight braid before and I just don't seem to get the same amount of bites as I do with flouro. It could be my lack of confidence, not sure. I personally feel like the braid has a different sound when ripped through the water. Who Knows?? I do know it impacts my confidence. So, I tie the flouro leader for the smooth finish to help with noise and the clear color to help with visibility.

I also don't pitch with straight braid for the same reasons. I feel like the braid sliding over brush and slicing through grass has a different sound.

If I didn't have that perception, I think I would go straight 50 pound braid for everything but crankbaits just for the durability and strength of the line.

You are overthinking it. I don't use it for everything but I have caught two DD's on a crankbait on 50# braid at Fork.

Yes Ken, it's certainly possible that I'm over thinking it. But, what if you would have caught 4 DDs throwing the same crankbaits on Flouro?? smile

All about confidence I guess.
