Having recently come across this section of TFF I have noticed a pattern and history of questions regarding supplements. Personally I recommend food as fuel and to be used before any supplementation is introduced. Some need supplements due to health reasons, poor diet to begin with or a myriad of other reasons. Everyone makes their own decisions related to their health and what they believe is best for their situation. Below are some resources to do your own research. The pimple faced kid at the local "health/vitamin/supplement food" store barely has enough knowledge to run the blender he/she is operating. They spew what they have been told to pass along to customers....ultimately to get your money. USA Antidoping NSF International - NSF International best known for environmental testing. Consumer Labs lists manufacturers that meet consumer labs standards for ingredient purity, label accuracy, and bioavailability. US Pharmacopeial audits production facilities to ensure good manufacturing practices and screens for purity etc. Drug Free Sport Click dietary supplement information Food & Drug Admin. enter dietary supplements in the search window The Golden Rule; If you read the label and there is anything resembling the warning, You may experience heart palpitations, nervousness, anxiety, or other similar related symptoms. these are NOT normal central nervous system responses...buyer beware as you are putting your health at risk.

Thanks, a good post and a good reminder...
"Supplements" are just that, they are to be used as a "supplement" to the main source of nutrients which is good food. Supplements are not meant to be a "replacement" for good food.
I try to eat as much healthy food as I can, but I wholeheartedly admit, I have not chosen to give up my junk foods that I've loved as a kid.
Shocking for me is that I don't drink that much pop anymore. I do want the "burn" of a cold Coke or Dr. Pepper with my Tex Mex, or BBQ, but I don't drink nearly as much carbonated pops as I used to. My body crave the quench from ice water.

Yes sir I order water with lemon when we eat out. As I have gotten older portion control is critical if I still want to 'cheat' or eat what I want. Mexican food and beer simply go together!

If I was trying to consume 240 grams of protein per day and not get fat, where would I get that protein from? Its been challenging. I have heard ISO Clean is best shake.

A calculation to determine your need for daily protein is .36 X body weight. Example: 225# X .36= 81 grams. Much beyond your daily needed intake essentially provides you with expensive toilet water. If you are looking for a reputable and clean protein supplement this is a good choice - Thorne Whey

240? Jeez. That's gotta be expensive. We are all about protein in our house, but not that much.
My Quest Brand is 22g per scoop.
