After 40 + years of bass fishing , I finally had a chance to come down to visit my son in Texas and catch my first Texas bass !! My sons fishing buddy , Steve , took my son and I to Ray Roberts on Sunday . We had a great day . Biggest LM was 4lbs , the biggest Spotted bass was over 3+lbs . I even caught a really nice Catfish on a spinnerbait . Steve was a gracious host , excellent fisherman and showed us the lake's many good spots . The 4lber had some weird black "stains" randomly over it's body . Does anyone know what causes this ? Lastly , we found a incredibly large school of sandies and spent an hour catching about 50+ , not big , but tons of fun .
Can't wait for my next trip to Texas !

Congratulations on your trip and catches . Roberts is a nice lake to go to . Just remember it's nice to post some pictures too if you have them .

Congrats. Not sure what causes the black but it's normal and the fish is still healthy.

Congrats on a good trip. I've always heard that those black spots are a sign of a healthy fishery. Even heard Shaw Grigsby say it once.
