So my wife said she wanted to start fishing some open team tournaments w/me. So what could go wrong since I usually fish alone and always 1 shy of a limit. 2nd tourney together and I tell her all she needs to do is catch her 1 keeper for us to have a chance to cash ( by the way 1st team tourney we tied for 2nd place w/only 4 keepers, 0 by Ashley). Needless to say her competitive nature she didn't want to use the small fish bait I set her up with in the 1st tourney she want to use what I had on so she could fish in the [censored] like I did.
Back to the story-- get to spot I want to fish and she pulls out her beetle spin on steroids 1st cast hangs up. that's enough of that. look up she grabs rod w/ custom jig and go to work and around 10am I look back to see her rod bent over, I grab the net in time to see fish swim by boat and it looks big , as she gets its head turned I start to get net ready and it jumps( I'm thinking oh $#!+ if I miss this it will be a longgg day) as it jump she pulls it over the edge of the net and her line go limp as hook falls out.
at end of day she did all I asked---
1 fish-- 6.9 lbs ( big bass of tournament) also successfully netted my fish for a combined 19lbs
